VICTORY IN BILOXI

Nearly four years after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, 3,500 families still live in FEMA trailers as they try to rebuild their lives. They include the elderly, low-income families, immigrants, disabled residents, and minorities who have already been marginalized at every turn. While they are working to rebuild what they lost in the storm, it would be devastating for them to have those FEMA trailers taken away, leaving them homeless. In Biloxi, Mississippi, that's exactly what the RFK Center helped prevent. We amplified the voices of the local community, joined allies in Mississippi and across the country, assembling more than forty community and human rights groups to speak out against this injustice and stop the Biloxi City Council from forcing residents out of their FEMA trailers and on to the streets. It was a great victory especially for the residents, but also for the RFK Center and our allies, one that reminds us of the power we have to change people's lives for the better. By working directly with leaders around the globe in their communities, we achieve real-world results that bring justice to the people who need it most. But we can't change lives without your support. We rely on people like you who share Robert Kennedy's commitment to a world without injustice.Help us keep fighting for justice and human rights by contributing today. This victory was a direct result of our work with 2005 RFK Laureate and community organizer Stephen Bradberry. The RFK Center and Stephen built the Gulf Coast Civic Works Campaign, a partnership of over 200 community, environmental, faith, and human rights organizations. Together we continue to build a national movement to help tens of thousands of Katrina survivors realize their right to reclaim their lives and communities with dignity. Our success in Biloxi is just the beginning. We have set a precedent for other communities and proven our ability to help the most vulnerable among us resist efforts to take their homes away.I hope you'll celebrate this victory with us and help us achieve many more by supporting the work of the RFK Center.Contribute to the RFK Center today, and help us win more victories for justice all over the world.Robert Kennedy dedicated his life to making the world a more fair and just place. Every day we continue that work in his name, thanks to the support of people just like you.Thank you for all you do.
